UWA Research Data Hub Support

Guidance for creating a research data management plan (RDMP) and requesting UWA approved data storage.

What is UWA approved data storage

UWA researchers are required to store research data in UWA approved research data stores. (Research Integrity Policy, 8.B.1).  To request UWA approved data storage, you will need to complete a RDMP. The CI listed on the RDMP, can request new storage once the RDMP form is "Saved & Closed" via the 'View & Update RDMP' page.

For guidance on UWA approved data stores, please visit the Research Data Management Toolkit.

UWA managed storage platforms meet standard security, backup, compliance and management requirements for research funders and ethics approval.  The full compliance statements are included in the PDF download of a saved RDMP, or they can be viewed in the Research Data Management Toolkit.

How to request new storage

Log into the UWA Research Data Hub. You will be prompted to sign in with your UWA staffnumber@uwa.edu.au (for staff) or studentnumber@uwa.edu.au (for HDR students) and your Uni ID.

To request UWA approved data storage for your research project/activity, you will need to create a Research Data Management Plan (RDMP). Go to the drop down menu under the Plan tab and open "Create Research Data Management Plan (RDMP) and complete your plan. A  blue 'Submit storage request' button will only display once a completed RDMP has been saved including all the mandatory fields.

Only the Chief Investigator (CI) listed on the RDMP will be able to request data storage for the project/activity.
Note that the Chief Investigator (CI) can only submit a data storage request once for each RDMP, so please check that the correct data storage options have been selected in the RDMP.

An email notification will be sent by IT when the storage request has been approved.

How to request additional storage for an existing project/activity

If you have a completed RDMP for an existing research project/activity, and need to request additional storage, go to the Self Service section of the IT Service Desk and complete and submit an IRDS Additional Storage request form. You will be notified when your request has been approved.
