Asian and European languages: Find books and journals

This guide will help you find resources in specific languages

To find books in a language of your choice go to Advanced search in OneSearch. In Any field enter your search terms and select 'Books' under Resource type.  Then select a Language from the dropdown menu and click Search.

If you are wanting to locate eBooks follow the process above and from the results list, go to the Modify my results panel and select 'Available online' under the Availability section.

eBook formats and viewing options will differ according to the eBook provider, however, eBooks are generally available as either PDF or ePUB files.

To get you started, here is a short selection of eBooks collections available to you:

  Books in Asian languages are on the third floor of the Reid Library grouped in one Collection called the CJK Collection (Chinese Japanese Korean).

 
Please note that the classification number starts with the language name. For example, J for Japanese.

If you wish to explore our literature collections of books in European languages, go to the third floor of the Reid Library. The table below lists the range of numbers for each language covered.

In OneSearch, go to Advanced search,  select the field subject and enter the language of your choice.

In Resource type, select 'journals',  under the Language option select your language again and click 'search'. 

 

You can refine your results further by using the filters under the Modify my results section to left of screen.  For example, selecting subject will allow you to limit your results to specific topics.
