What to expect in a consultation

Systematic reviews do take a large commitment in terms of time and effort.

Please allow an hour for an initial consultation and come prepared with a well structured research question. Ideally, we would appreciate a copy of your review proposal/protocol prior to this consultation in order to be able to prepare adequately and would like you to bring 2-3 key articles you would expect to appear in the results of your search. You may like to print and begin to fill out a search strategy planner.

If possible, please arrange for at least two members of your review team to attend the consultation.

Possible discussion topics may include:

  • identification of key terms and subject headings
  • identification of appropriate databases and other resources
  • structuring the search strategy
  • database syntax and search tips
  • exporting search results
  • setting up alerts
  • managing your search results
