Unit Readings is UWA's system for sharing reading lists with students

Unit Readings is UWA's official reading list system supporting the University’s learning, teaching and copyright compliance requirements. Using Unit Readings enables you to:

  • Create a positive student experience: Delivering all your readings via Unit Readings helps create continuity for your students across their units. Integration with the LMS means all their learning materials are provided in one location. From Unit Readings, students can click through and access the full text of any readings in your list that are available online.
  • Cut down your workload: Unit Readings allows you to simultaneously inform your students of their readings, inform the Library of which readings students require access to, and add your unit's Essential Textbook to your Unit Outline.
  • Comply with copyright law: The Library checks all materials added to a list for copyright compliance across the University. Teaching staff should never upload copies of copyright material directly into their LMS.

When should I prepare my reading list?

Please allow up to 4 weeks for the Library to process your list ahead of Semester. Lists sent to the Library after this timeframe may not be completed before the start of Semester.

Some items require time for the Library to process and make them available. Processing times vary according to factors such as the type of resource, whether the Library has access to the item, or whether the item is out on loan and needs to be recalled. 

Organising your list into weekly sections is recommended to ensure your Week 1 and 2 readings are processed in time for the start of Semester. You're welcome to populate the first few weeks of your list and send it to the Library, so we can start processing those items first. You can then add further readings for later weeks in the semester.
