Case Law: This Guides provides information relating to the Lifecycle of a Case, Law Reports, Citations and Citators, looking for Cases, using different methods. It also includes links to various subscription and free Databases, that you can use to help you locate Australian Cases and Cases from other Jurisdictions.
Legislation: This Guide provides information on how to find Acts, Delegated Legislation, Bills, Parliamentary documents and extrinsic materials for Australian jurisdictions. It also provides information on how to keep up to date with Legislation.
Secondary sources: This Guide will show you how to develop an effective search strategy and then use it, to locate relevant secondary sources, to support the research your undertake for your law assignments.

Procedure: A Guide that includes key resources for researching Western Australian, Australian and UK Civil Procedure. It provides tips on getting started, how to use various Procedure Manuals and how to find Procedural Legislation, as well as Commentary Sources.
Public International Law: A Guide that provides information researching and finding Treaties / Conventions and International Cases. It also provides useful information on public international law encyclopaedias and other reference sources and where to go to find secondary sources such as books and journal articles.
Foundations of Public Law: A Guides that focusses on the area of Public Law. You can use it to help you find Legislation, Case law and key journals and Databases. It also provides tips on keeping your research current.
Torts: A Guide that is dedicated to the study of Tort Law. You can use it to help you locate resources, including Case law, Legislation, journal articles and legal commentary.
Step 1. Analyse the problem – identify the legal issues
Step 2. Plan your research strategy – what are your key sources and key concepts you need to use?
Step 3. Use secondary sources to get an overview of the legal issues: this works well for legal topics that are unfamiliar to you.
Step 4. Follow leads to primary sources – these are your key authorities
Step 5. Check for currency – are your authorities still ‘good law’?
Step 6. Broaden your search for more information as necessary, from journals, core texts etc.
