Text Mining and Data Mining: Considerations and Responsibilities

A guide for UWA staff and students on text and data mining

Text Mining responsibly

  • Text and data mining is only permitted on some Library databases and resources and may breach the university's license agreement with the publisher.  Downloading or scraping large amounts of data from a database may be prohibited and prevent further access to the database.  Researchers are required to check the copyright and licence agreements or resource terms of use before proceeding.

For further information on database and resource access and permissions contact hdrsupport-lib@uwa.edu.au (higher degree by research students) or staffsupport-lib@uwa.edu.au (UWA staff).

Researchers will need to consider storage requirements as text and data mining produces large data sets.

Please visit the Research Data Management Toolkit  for information and support on your data storage and backup options.
